§ WIN · 11th edition

# Kill Grid: Every unit against every unit: the full threat matrix, both ways, and a printable dossier.

§ I · Your force

§ II · Opponent force

## How Kill Grid works

Paste two lists and Kill Grid scores each side's units against the other's, at range and in melee.

### What you paste

Paste GW app exports or WTC lists: yours under Your force, your opponent's under Opponent force. This 40k army vs army calculator reads models and wargear from each list, and stats and points from the 11th edition catalogues. It simulates up to 30 units a side. Unmatched units drop out and appear under Coverage warnings. For one unit against one, with every modifier, use [Combat Calculus](/calculus).

### Scoring a pairing

Kill Grid simulates each pairing 2,000 times per phase, ranged and melee, both ways. Each trial rolls hits, wounds, saves and Feel No Pain, and applies weapon keywords such as Blast, Sustained Hits, Lethal Hits and Anti. Damage lands one model at a time, and excess does not carry over. Kill Grid runs in your browser and does not upload your lists.

### What you get

The threat matrix is a heatmap: attackers down the side, targets across the top. Switch direction, phase and metric: expected damage, kill chance (the odds of wiping out the target unit) or points efficiency. Points efficiency divides the target points you expect to destroy, counted by models killed, by the attacker's points, so 1.0× is an even trade. Print dossier makes an A4 landscape printout of trades, targets and threats.

### § Questions

How do I work out 40k list vs list damage?

Paste both lists and press Run Kill Grid to pit your units against theirs, both ways. The grid reports expected damage, kill chance and points efficiency.

Does this Warhammer 40k matchup calculator account for cover?

Yes. Target in cover worsens Ballistic Skill by 1 for ranged weapons without Ignores Cover. Within half range triggers Rapid Fire and Melta, and Remained stationary triggers Heavy. Toggles apply to both armies.

Why does a Kill Grid cell show a dash?

Kill Grid cannot compute that pairing: the attacker has no weapon with stats for that phase, or the target has no stat profile. A melee-only unit shows a row of dashes under Ranged.

Does Kill Grid include detachment rules and stratagems?

No. It models saves, Feel No Pain and many weapon keywords, but not army-wide or detachment rules, stratagems or most unit abilities. Enhancements add points only. Leaders stay apart from the units they lead.
