## How the leaderboards are built

One simulation, every unit of every faction, ranked on its own.

### Damage

Each unit is rolled 2,000 times against six real datasheets: 20 Cadian Shock Troops, 5 Terminators, an Impulsor, a Leman Russ Battle Tank, an Exocrine and a Knight Paladin. A board ranks shooting and melee apart, by how much of the target a unit removes in one turn per 100 points, so a cheap unit that chips a tank can outrank an expensive one that kills it.

### Durability

Each unit is attacked one attack at a time until no model is left, 2,000 times over, by a bolt rifle, a heavy bolter, a lascannon and a master-crafted power weapon. The count is how many attacks that takes, damage carried between attacks as on the table. The overall figure says how many Space Marine Intercessors take as much killing, and a second board divides it by points. Titanic units, the Knights and Lords of War, are left out until you switch them back in.

### What counts

A unit fights with its datasheet abilities, its wargear and its army rule where that needs no situation; detachment rules, enhancements, stratagems and attached leaders are left out. Units come in the loadout winning tournament lists run, from the [Meta Merge](/metamerge) feed, or at their smallest size in default wargear when no winning list fields them. ### § Questions

What is the strongest unit in 40k 11th edition?

It depends on the job. The damage boards rank every unit per point against hordes, elite infantry, light vehicles, tanks, monsters and Knights, shooting and melee apart; the durability boards rank how much killing each unit takes.

Are these leaderboards a 40k tier list?

No. A tier list is an opinion about whole factions. These rank single units by simulated dice, without detachments or stratagems, so they show what a unit does on its own datasheet.

How often do the unit leaderboards update?

With every deploy of the site, from the Meta Merge feed of the day and the current points. Each board prints the date of the feed it was built from.
