What Lexmechanic is

One person's workbench for the 40k player and painter, kept honest by the data it prints.

Who makes it

Lexmechanic is built and run by Peter W Szabo as a side project. There is no company behind it and no account to make. The tools are free; if one saves you an evening, Ko-fi is where a coffee goes.

Where the data comes from

Datasheets, points and wargear come from the community-maintained BSData files for 11th edition, pinned to a revision and rebuilt on release. Stratagem, army and detachment rules text and unit abilities are bundled snapshots of the published 11th edition rules. Tournament lists come from listhammer.info, which collects Best Coast Pairings and Tabletop Herald events. Paint colours come from two open data sets, Arcturus5404/miniature-paints and SimoGecko/CitadelColours, both MIT licensed.

How often it refreshes

The Meta Merge feed is fetched every six hours by a job on the server. Catalogues, rules and paint data refresh with a deploy, usually within days of a codex or points update. The Data date in the status strip at the foot of every page is the newest of those, and each print tool shows its own snapshot date.

What stays in your browser

Every list, paint list and roster you paste is parsed in your browser and never uploaded. The site fetches only its own data files. Google Analytics counts page views; it loads after the page is interactive and receives nothing you paste. There is no login, no newsletter and no advertising.

Warhammer 40,000, Citadel and all associated marks, names and rules text are the property of Games Workshop Limited. Lexmechanic is an unofficial fan project, not endorsed by or affiliated with Games Workshop. Vallejo, The Army Painter and Two Thin Coats are trademarks of their owners.
