How the Scouting Report reads a list

Paste your own list to hand your opponent a short brief of it, or theirs to learn what it can do.

Every rule in one line

Paste a list, a GW app export or a WTC list, in English or French. The brief gives the army rules, each detachment's rule and the stratagems the list can use with their CP, the enhancements it takes and each unit's abilities, one short line each. Every line was written from the rule text and checked by a second reader, and opens to the full text. Copy text gives the same brief as plain text to paste under the list; Print sheet puts it on paper.

The questions opponents ask

What each unit hits on and which rules change it, what fits in each transport, what happens when a unit stands on an objective, what the list can do in its opponent's turn and what it does before the first turn. A notes box takes the combos the rules don't spell out, and they go into the copied text and onto the sheet.

How far each unit reaches

Below the brief, each unit's reach in one turn: its Move, then a 2D6 charge. In 11th edition the charge is rolled before targets are chosen, and a target has to be within 12" and within the roll, so every unit threatens a circle the dice set. The odds are exact, with the charge and Move rules from hand-checked tables applied, and each unit's Toughness, saves and Wounds, and any Deep Strike, Infiltrators or Scouts, sit beside them.

§ Questions

How do I explain my 40k army list to my opponent?
Paste it into the Scouting Report and press Copy text. You get every rule, stratagem and ability your list uses in one short line, and answers to what opponents ask: what your units hit on, what fits in your transports, what you can do in their turn. It comes as plain text to paste under your list, or as a sheet to print.
Can it explain a list written in French?
Yes. It reads French GW app and WTC lists and explains them in English. If it cannot read a detachment's French name, the page names that detachment, so you know its rules are missing.
How far can a unit charge in 40k 11th edition?
Its Move plus a 2D6 charge roll, and a charge never reaches past 12": a target must be within 12" and within the roll. A unit with a 6" Move reaches 13" half the time and 11" four times in five.
What are the odds of a 9 inch charge out of Deep Strike?
Deep Strike sets a unit up more than 8" away, so the charge needs 9 or more on 2D6: 10 of the 36 rolls, 28%. A re-roll lifts it to 48%, and +1 to charge rolls to 42%.
How is the Scouting Report different from List Check?
List Check measures what your own list kills. The Scouting Report explains a list, yours or your opponent's: its rules in short lines, the questions opponents ask, and how far each unit reaches.
